The etymology of Abai Sundae originated from the fact that it was called Abai (Father),
a dialect of Hamgyeong-do, when refugees settled in Sokcho at 625,
it was called Abai Sundae in Hamgyeong-do style.
Abai Sundae is a local food in Hamgyeong-do, made by mixing pig ox blood,
glutinous rice, cabbage, cabbage, bean sprouts,
and cabbage leaves in pig intestines cleaned
with deep sea water, and steaming them in a steamer.
It is good for children in the growth and development
period as a nutritional food and is especially suitable
for an anemia family snack for pregnant women.
During the Korean War, displaced people who came down from
Hamgyeong-do to Sokcho, Gangwon-do could not get pig intestines,
so they mixed squid legs and corrosion to make and eat sundae.
It's made using the traditional Abai Sundae method.
